the Fall/Winter Sale!

Got questions?

NEW!  We offer a helpful pricing guide, taken with permission from another consignment sale in the US.

NEW!  See our FAQ page for answers to common questions.

We will assign you a consignor code after we receive your registration. You will receive your consignor code in your registration confirmation email.

Print your bar coded tags here.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you use a LASER PRINTER when printing your bar coded tags. Other types of printers make the bar codes unreadable by the scanners.

At the bottom of this page is a template you may use if you want to use Word to print out your tags. It is a Word document called "ConsignorTags.doc."  To use this you must first print your bar coded tags on card stock using your PDF file (see above link), then run those sheets through your printer a second time with the Word document.

Concerning using codes from other sales
:

We allow consignors to bring items tagged from other local consignment sales IF they include bar codes.  However each consignor must have ALL of his/her items tagged using only ONE format and ONE code (either ours, or one other sale's tags, but not a combination of both). If you have items from another sale without bar codes, you will not be able to reuse those tags for our sale.  If you plan to bring items tagged from another sale, you must indicate the name of the sale and the consignor code for that sale when you register online. It is very important that you do not write any additional codes on your tags to prevent mistakes in calculating sales and sorting unsold items.

A few good reasons why people consign their gently used children’s clothing, toys and maternity wear with us:
  • Your participation helps support worthy missions benefiting local needy women and children.

  • We offer the highest proceeds split for consignors of any sale or shop in the Triangle area. You keep 70% of the sale price of each item that sells. We retain 30% for local missions.

  • Low consignor fee of $5.00.

  • Quick turn-around: Friday a.m. Drop-off; Friday/Saturday Sell & Shop; Saturday 2 p.m. Pick-up. You’re done!

  • Get paid fast! We plan to distribute checks at consignor pick-up.

  • We accept merchandise tagged from some other local area consignment sales. No need to re-tag!
  • One of the few places left that will accept maternity clothing for consignment.

Here’s what you need to do to become a Friendship Closet consignor:

1) Register to consign by following the "Registration" link on the left-hand side of this page.

2) After you receive your registration confirmation email, go to our website and print out your bar coded tags using a LASER PRINTER ONLY. Copy onto card stock and fill out the remaining information by hand (or fill in on your computer before you print tags):

  • Print tags on card stock. Tags made on regular paper will not be accepted.
  • Bar codes must be printed on a laser printer in order to produce the quality needed for our scanners to work. Ink jet/desk jet printers will not work - the scanner can not read the bar codes, even though they may look fine to the naked eye. If you do not have access to a laser printer, email your bar code template to an office supply store, such as Office Max, and have them print a master copy on a laser printer. You can then photocopy this "original" onto several sheets of card stock.  Do not "bold" your bar codes when you print them.
  • For items that are labeled with a size range (i.e. 9-12 months), mark the tag with the larger size, or 12M in this case. If an item seems to fit small or large, or if the item is labeled S, M, or L please use your wise judgment to place the item in the correct numbered size.
  • It is important to give a good brief description of the item. Tags can fall off and we are unable to sell an untagged item. A good description helps us to pair the tags back with the untagged items to ensure they have a chance at selling.
  • Price items in $0.50 increments only please. Items priced at approximately 1/4 of the original price sell well.  However please be sure to consider the age and condition of each item when setting the price.  Refer to our pricing guide (see top right of this page for link) for more suggestions on pricing.
  • Put a capital letter "D" in the lower-right corner of the tag if you would like for the item to be donated to charity should it not sell.  We DO allow you to donate unsold toys now!  Some charities have resumed accepting donations of toys.
  • On Saturday we offer a half-price option to help clear out what has not already sold. If you DO NOT want your item to be sold at half-price, fill out the price in red ink.  It does not matter what color ink the rest of the tag is.  Only the color ink of the price is significant.  Prices printed/written in any color other than red will indicate half-price on Saturday.

.
3) Attach the tag to your item.
  • You may use safety pins or zip ties (available at home improvement stores and discount department stores) but for safety reasons do not use straight pins.
  • Place clothing items on a wire hanger and face the hanger to the left so it makes a question mark.  We do not have extra hangers on hand at the sale.
  • Place the tag on the upper-right section of the garment whenever possible.
  • Place accessories such as hats, socks, onesies, etc. in Ziploc bags and tape tag to the bag with clear shipping tape.

  • Use shipping tape to attach tag to toys and equipment.

  • For toys with small parts, place parts in Ziploc bag, tape it closed and tape securely to the toy.

4) Sort items by size and gender to make drop-off easier.

5) Drop-off your items during posted drop-off times. You will be responsible for placing your items in the designated areas on the sales floor. Double-check your tags for price and your consignor code. Leave a box or bin (cardboard, plastic) with your name and consignor number on it so we can use it for sorting. It will be returned to you at pick-up along with any unsold items.

6) Shop the sale and encourage your friends to shop. The more shoppers everyone recruits, the more money we all make!

7) Pick up your unsold items during the designated pick-up period. Items not picked up by the deadline will become the property of the Friendship Circle at Apex United Methodist Church, regardless of whether or not they have been marked for donation to charity or marked for half-price. No exceptions. If you are unable to pick up your unsold items you may send a friend or family member, but please note that we cannot be held responsible if this person is unable to identify your items or fails to pick-up all of your unsold items.

8) If you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask by emailing us at friendshipcloset@gmail.com.  We are glad to help you however we can!
